CARE GUIDE

How to wash your piece

Gentle methods that protect softness and longevity. Follow these steps.

You’ll need:
  • Wide-tooth comb
  • Sulfate-free shampoo
  • Hydrating conditioner
  • Towel
  1. 1

    Pre-detangle

    1. Gently detangle from ends to roots with a wide-tooth comb.
    2. Support the base to avoid tugging.
  2. 2

    Shampoo (gentle)

    1. Fill your sink with luke-warm water
    2. Add a pea-sized amount of shampoo to the water and mix
    3. Holding at the part-line, fully submerge your piece in the water
    4. Using your wide-tooth comb, comb through the hair to fully shampoo the piece
    5. Massage the shampoo into the cap gently
    6. Empty the sink and use running water to fully rinse the piece.
    7. Repeat this process before conditioning
  3. 3

    Condition + rinse

    1. Fill your sink with luke-warm water
    2. Add a pea-sized amount of conditioner to the water and mix
    3. Holding at the part line, submerge only the end of the piece into the water. Do not put conditioner on the cap or top of the piece. Only the ends of the hair.
    4. Using your wide-tooth comb, comb through the hair to condition the ends
    5. Empty the sink and use running water to fully rinse the piece

**Optional, repeat this step using a deep conditioning treatment

  4. 4

    Dry + smooth

    1. Using a clean towel, dry the hair gently by rolling the piece in the towel and gently squeezing
    2. Leave your piece to air dry or blowdry and style as per your preference
    3. If your piece has a lace-front, we reccomend blowdrying this into place to avoid stretching or damage.

General care tips

Simple habits that keep your piece soft, secure, and beautiful for longer.

Do

  • Brush from ends to roots before washing.
  • Use lukewarm water, not hot.
  • Pat dry—no rubbing.
  • Use heat protectant
  • Use deep conditioning treatments ever few washes

Don’t

  • Don’t use salt/clarifying shampoos.
  • Don’t exceed recommended heat.
  • Pull on the lace of your wig
  • Sleep in your wig or topper
  • Overwash. Only wash when necessary.

Heat & styling

Max temp: 300°F
Tools: Blow dryer, curling wand, flat iron, crimper, Airwrap, etc.

1. Use smaller sections. This allows you to keep the heat on the hair for less time, therefore reducing the damage.

2. Use a quality heat protectant spray.

3. Heat style only as necessary. Most will hold a curl well up to a week or longer.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about sizing, cap types, color and care.

Finding the right piece

Can you explain the difference between silk top and lace top?

Silk top: A silk top piece has multiple layers of fabric on the top of the wig. Each hair is individually sewn into these layers of fabric, which means the knot is concealed within the layers. The outer-most layer is made of silk and mimics a real scalp. Slightly fuller and a touch warmer, but more durable than lace.

Lace top: A single layer of transparent lace covers the top of the piece. Each hair is sewn into this lace to give that 'growing out of your head' look. More delicate than a silk top piece, but also lighter and more breathable.

What cap types last longest?

Longevity depends on wear frequency, care, and density more than anything, but generally silk top pieces will last longer than lace top.

With consistent care, many customers wear a piece 12–24+ months. See tips below under Care.

What hair do you use?

All of our wigs (unless otherwise stated) are made using the finest quality Mongolian human hair. This hair is remy, meaning the cuticles are going in all one direction to prevent tangling.

I can’t see the color/length/size I want—what should I do?

Get in touch! Reach out to our team via email or Instagram DM for guidance in finding the right product for you.

Can I change the part line?

Yes! Our wigs come with a full silk top, meaning you can part the wig anywhere on the top of the head just as you would your real hair and still maintain that realistic looking scalp.

Will my piece come pre-cut?

Yes! All of our wigs come cut and ready to wear. This said, you can still take your wig to a stylist for further shaping if desired.

I’m not sure if a topper or wig is best for me.

Topper: Best when you still have your own hair to clip the topper into. A topper hads coverage and volume while still incorporating your own hair. This can feel more natural for first-time hair-wearers.

Wig: Best for fuller coverage. Can be worn by those with and without their own hair. Ideal if your hair loss in progressing, unpredictable or you don't want to worry about blending/matching your own hair.

Not sure? Book a free virtual chat and we’ll help you choose.

Will a topper damage my hair?

We use soft-closure clips that are gentle on your hair. However, clips should feel secure, but not tight. Rotate placement and take breaks. If scalp is sensitive, consider a wig as a more gentle option.

Do I need glue or tape to secure it?

Nope! All our wigs are designed to be used without any adhesives, including tape, glue, clips, or wig grips. 100% glueless, 100% secure.

Can I wear a wig with my own hair underneath?

100% In fact, most wig-wearers do have their own hair underneath. Simply put your hair into a ponytail, bun or low braid before putting on the wig.

Wearing & Lifestyle

Will people notice?

In our experience, no.

Our wigs and toppers are designed to be highly realistic and mimic real hair.

The only people who have ever noticed we're wearing wigs or toppers are other hair -wearers who are trained to know what to look for 😉

What if I get wet or caught in the rain?

No problem! As our pieces are human hair, rain or water will not ruin the hair. Simply dry as normal.

Can I wear it through airport security?

Yes! Your wig or topper will not set off a metal detector.

The metal used in the wigs and toppers is similiar to what is used in hair pins. This will not set off security.

However, if you run into any trouble just request a private room. Security have seen it all before!

Is it hot to wear?

We design for comfort. Although all our pieces are lower-density, our lace top products will be the coolest to wear due to the breathable material.

All our pieces can easily be put into a ponytail or other up-do to get the hair off your neck and away from your face on particuarly warm days.

How do I cut the lace?

Our best tip, go SLOW! Remember you can always cut more off, but you can't put more back on.

We recommend you use a smaller pair of scissors to cut your lace for precision and accuracy.

1. Begin by using some clips and clipping all the hair away from the lace. This prevents you from accidentally cutting any hair.

2. Slowly trim around the hairline, starting at one ear and finishing at the other.

3. Aim to leave about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of lace beyond  the hairline. If you cut directly to the hairline, you may find you have issues with the lace sitting flat against your forehead.

4. Once you've made your cuts, try the wig on and see how it looks. From there, you can choose to cut more if necessary.

Can you swim in a topper or wig?

Our Active Wigs are the perfect choice for swimming or other more 'adventurous' activities. These caps are incredibly durable. Make sure to apply a conditioning treatment after swimming to maintain the quality of the hair.

While it's entirely possible to swim in a Comfort Cap Wig or Topper, it's not something we reccommend doing often. Chlorine and salt water can dry the hair and loosen the knots where the hair is tied into the cap.

If you do choose to swim in your piece, please rinse immediately after and apply a deep conditioner to the ends.

Can I sleep in it?

Although security-wise it's possible to sleep in your wig, we don't reccomend it. The friction on the wig will shorten the lifespan of the piece.

For the odd emergency (like a surprise sleepover with a new significant other 😉), sleeping in your piece is okay.

Can I wear a Comfort Cap Wig for exercise?

Yes! Although our Active Wigs are specially designed for working out and exercise, you can definitely wear a Comfort Cap to exercise too.

Will my wig fall off? What about on a roller coaster?

With the right size your piece will be fully secure.

Yes, you can go out on windy days, do gymnastics, headbang at a concert and even ride a roller coaster and your wig will stay in place.

Care

How often should I wash?

Every 3-5 weeks depending on wear and the acitivites you do in your wig; use gentle, hydrating products and cool water. See our full care guide above for step-by-step instructions.

Can I style it with heat?

Yes! All our pieces are made with high-quality human hair and can be treated just like you would your normal hair. Make sure to apply a heat protectant before styling to protect the hair.

Can I cut my piece?

Yes. However, we recommend only having your piece cut by a professional stylist who has experience with alternative hair.

You can add just about any cut you like to a piece, including, bangs/fringe, layers, blunt cuts and more.

Can I color/dye my piece?

Yes. However, we recommend only having your piece colored by a professional stylist who has experience with alternative hair.

Our virgin hair pieces can be darkened or lightened. However, we only recommend darkening our pre-colored pieces. Please do not use bleach on pre-colored piece.

What is the best way to dry my piece?

This depends on your personal preference.

Some opt for air-drying to mimic their natural hair texture and prolong the lifespan of the piece

Others prefer to blowdry for a smooth, sleek look.

How can I extend the lifespan of my piece?
  • Detangle ends gently before and after wear.
  • Don't wash unless necessary. The less you wash your wig the longer the piece will last.
  • Limit heat styling and always use heat protectant.
  • Avoid chlorine and salt water.
  • Store your wig on a manequin head away from direct sunlight
  • Only use recommended products for washing.
